The now famous crime solving duo of Nick (William Powell) and Nora (Myrna Loy) go on an innocent vacation. They are off to resolve issues between Nick and his father (Harry Davenport) in his small home town of Sycamore Springs. Nick's father would rather he become a doctor and not a detective. However, once they arrive they stumble upon a crime. A house painter has been murdered. At first the duo try to not to get involved but they are drawn into the mystery when Nora buys a painting. The painting ends being tied not only to the murder but it leads to a spy ring and a possible kidnapping. Myrna and Nick do what they do best comically investigating the crime and risking their lives to get to the heart of the mystery.
