Born in Detroit, Roger Corman graduated from Stanford University with a degree in engineering and did post graduate work in Modern English Literature at Oxford's Balloil College in England. In 1953 he sold his first screenplay and served as associate producer. The following year he produced his first independent film, beginning one of the most prolific careers of low-budget films in Hollywood history. Some of his achievements include Frankenstein Unbound, Bloody Mama, The Trip, St. Valentine's Day Massacre, The Raven, The Pit and the Pendulum, Little Shop of Horrors and Caged Heat. Actors who talk about Corman include Jonathan Demme, Carl Franklin, Ron Howard, Martin Scorsese, Diane Ladd, Bruce Dern, Nancy Sinatra and James Cameron.
