Alternating between rehearsals and performances of the classic Japanese "I-dunnit" Rashomon, this film is at once the portrait and the agent of a revelation. As the actors, under the benevolent dictatorship of master director Neil Munro, come to understand their roles and thus become the characters they portray, the viewer comes to appreciate the intricate, mysterious and laborious creative process at the end of which "a play is born."
