André Moreau (Stewart Granger), a nobleman's bastard living in France just prior to the French Revolution, seeks revenge on Marquis de Maynes (Mel Ferrer) for the murder of his best friend. At first hiding out as an actor in a commedia troupe while learning swordsmanship, he joins the National Assembly when de Maynes starts challenging its members to duels they have no hope of winning. Complicating matters are the two women who love Moreau, both of whom try to prevent the duel to save his life. |
