A nebbish movie critic named Allan Felix (Woody Allen) is obsessed with the movie “Casablanca” and the epitome of a man’s code of conduct exhibited by Humphrey Bogart in “Play It Again, Sam.” His friends Linda and Dick (Diane Keaton, Tony Roberts) are understanding and loyal, trying to help him adapt to women and life. Only when the ghostly image of Bogart (Jerry Lacy), complete in trench coat from “Casablanca,” appears does Allan start to learn how to behave. With Bogey giving him instruction in how to be noble, Allan starts to fall in love with Linda, his best friend’s wife. Using lines from the Bogart movie and cues from the ghost of Bogart, Allan tries to become a complete man. It cannot work, and in parallel to the 1942 movie about being noble and a hill of beans, Allan must do the right thing, no matter how painful as Allan and Linda wait to embark on a plane at a foggy airport.
