A sequel to The Wizard of Oz, Return to Oz is a slightly darker story, in which Dorothy Gale (Fairuza Balk) cannot stop thinking about Oz. She finds a key that she believes was sent from Oz, and because of her inability to come back to "reality," Auntie Em (Piper Laurie) sends her to a mental health clinic where they attempt to treat her by electric shock. Dorothy escapes from the clinic, and finds herself back in Oz, with her hen Billina (Denise Bryer), who is now able to talk. They find Oz in a terrible state, with people missing or turned to stone. Dorothy must then travel through Oz, meeting a brand new cast of characters, in an attempt to find out who has taken over in Oz and how the kingdom may be restored.
