Always on edge, Dr Richard Clayton (Ron Livingston) is a successful psychiatrist and engaged to Ellen (Neve Campbell). Life seems wonderful until one day he finds out that he is adopted. Richard employs a private detective to track down his real parents. When his real parents, Frank (Danny DeVito) and Agnes Menure (Kathy Bates) are found he invites them to visit for the weekend. Things don’t go according to plan as his new found parents move into his home along with their friends. Chaos ensues for the psychiatrist who teaches anger management, as he tries to deal with his parents and his own anger issues.
