This movie is based on the real life story of Stan "Tookie" Williams (Jamie Foxx). It follows his life from co founding the L.A. Crips up to his capture and death sentencing for murder. While on death row in San Quentin however, is able to better himself and become an advocate to help keep kids out of gangs. With the help a journalist Barbara Becnel (Lynn Whitfield) Stan writes a true life book about his street life and starts writing a series of children's books speaking out against violence. Unfortunately for Stan, his crimes were too severe and all his appeals fail. He is executed, but not before he is able to find some way to help those who will come behind him.
