Jack Mason (Ice T) is a homeless man who makes plans to commit suicide when he loses his two best friends: his dog and another homeless man die on the same day. He is saved from killing himself by a soup kitchen worker named Walter Cole (Charles S. Dutton). Cole sends him to a priest. The priest, Father Thomas Burns (Rutger Hauer), offers Mason a job. Mason proves his physical fitness by running on a treadmill for half an hour, and Father Burns gives him a $500 a week job as a hunting guide. Mason is flown to a cabin in the Northwest where he meets the hunting party. The job takes a lethal turn when Mason discovers that the hunting party is actually hunting him. If he can make it to civilization, he will be set free.
