Brothers Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and Ellis (Ethan Peck) set out on a road trip to New Mexico with almost nothing to lose. They are hoping to find their estranged father, hoping that he will be able to help save Ellis, who has terminal leukemia. During their trip, they encounter Krystal (Mariah Carey), who quickly joins them on their way. Krystal is hoping to put her troubled life behind her and start over in a new place and hopefully launch a singing career for herself. All three are determined to start over and make a better life for themselves, and are resting their hopes on a new start.
