"Wet Hot American Summer" is a campy look at that most American of rites of passage - summer camp. It's 1981, on the last day of the season at Camp Firewood. Director Beth (Janeane Garofalo) is romantically entwined with oblivious Professor Henry Neuman (David Hyde Pierce), who is preoccupied with the imminent threat posed to the campers by a part of Skylab on a direct trajectory toward the camp. Chef Gene (Christopher Meloni) is dealing with his own pecadillos, while Arts and Crafts teacher Gail (Molly Shannon) commiserates with her young charges about her recent divorce. At the story's heart is the love triangle between horny teen counselors, pitting "everyman" Coop versus lifeguard Andy (Paul Ruud) for the affections of love object Katie (Marguerite Moreau). Conflicts are resolved with the culminating event of every summer camp, the ubiquitous talent show.
