The Stouffer brothers have always dreamed of a life in the outdoors, among the animals and beauty of nature. But their father Mary (Jamey Sheridan) has other plans. His dreams are for his sons to follow in the family business of auto parts. With frequent fights with their father, Marty, Jr. (Scott Bairstow) and Mark (Devon Sawa) think life will never be calm. In order to have peace in the home and realizing that her sons need to pursue their individual dreams, Mrs. Stouffer (Frances Fisher) persuades her husband to allow the boys to take a trip that will allow them to film a nature documentary. Unknown to all of the family, the youngest Stouffer, Marshall (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) has hidden away in the van. During their experiences they face both funny and hair-raising adventures but emerge as true film artists worthy of their father’s respect.
