When a happily married couple learn they are going to have a baby, they drive cross country to let their the wife’s parents know about the upcoming event. Summer (Tess Penzer) and her husband Clark (Ian Duncan) enjoy the trip, passing the usual hitchhiker and ignoring him on the desolate highway. After a stop at a motel, they begin again to journey, but have engine trouble with their car. Stuck in the middle of the desert, they decide to take a long hike to a nearby small town. There, they encounter the hitchhiker named Joseph (Andrew Howard) who seems, at first, friendly and helpful, not at all upset they never gave him a ride, but Summer begins to suspect he is not normal. Then he tells Summer to beware of her husband.
