Jack (Andrew Garfield) is 24 years old when he gets out of prison. It's tough for any felon to get readjusted to the world. There's finding a job, regaining people's trust, repairing your reputation. It's harder for Jack. He grew up in jail. Convicted of murder when he was just a child, Jack faces an uphill battle to reclaim his life. He and a playmate killed another little boy, and it's hard to tell if Jack's been permanently tainted by the act. His parole officer Terry (Peter Mullan) wants to help him take advantage of his second chance, but other people want to see his punishment continue. Jack learns rather quickly that he can hide from his past, but it's tougher to hide his past from those around him.
