Calamity Jane (Anjelica Huston) lived a very different and unorthodox lifestyle for a woman in the 1880s. She was a star for Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show and had Wild Bill Hickok (Sam Elliott) as a lover. Her best friend Dora DuFran (Melanie Griffith) was a madam. Her life was one of adventure and fun. She was adored by her fans but the ladies thought her behavior outrageous. Calamity Jane was not afraid of anything and her antics on the stage and off of the stage proved that she was a woman far ahead of her time. Together with her female costar Annie Oakley (Reba McEntire) Jane was able to show that women could have some fun too. |
