Ricky (Ashley Walters) is the child of a single black mother. His younger sibling, Curtis (Luke Fraser), admires Ricky as a father figure since their real dad is not with them. Curtis plays with Ricky’s gun. Ricky gets out of jail after stabbing someone. Curtis and a friend, Wisdom (Leon Black), meet him upon his release. Ricky wants to go straight and to be with his lover, Shea (Sharea-mounira Samuels), but Wilson accidentally damages another person’s car, causing an increasingly dangerous series of problems to occur. They also do not get along with the white authority figures, such as police, teachers, and probation officers.
