Jeanne de Saint-Rémy de Valois (Hilary Swank) lost her parents at a very young age and wishes to reclaim her royal status and her home. She feels she can get these if she could somehow persuade the Queen. However she doesn’t get an opportunity to talk to her. As a result she joins hands with a gigolo Rétaux de Villette (Simon Baker) and conspires to earn money. By forging the signature of the Queen, she acts as her confidante. Cardinal Louis de Rohan (Jonathan Pryce) gives her a diamond necklace and told her to hand it over to queen. The necklace was actually ordered Queen’s late husband. Jeanne promises that she will reimburse during a feast that was approaching. Jeanne uses the necklace to buy a new house. Suddenly all her plans were learned by the Queen and things start changing. |
