“Anywhere But Here” is the story of a flighty dreamer, Adele August (Susan Sarandon), and her teenage daughter Ann (Natalie Portman). Adele is unsatisfied and bored with their life in Bay City, so she packs up her daughter and moves them to Beverly Hills. The two repeatedly clash, fighting about everything: boyfriends, fathers, college, furniture, parties, and friends. Even just having enough money to pay the rent strains this relationship to the breaking point. But Adele and Ann, despite their differences, are strong characters, and when an unexpected death forces them to confront their history together, they realize that they can both learn from their mistakes and work towards building a better life in the future.
