When, as a young girl, Sarita (Raquel Welch) sees her father brutally hanged by General Verdugo (Fernando Lamas), she grows up to be revolutionary in Mexico. Tied into her cause is Yaqui Joe (Burt Reynolds), a Southern boy with Mexican blood, who steals 100 rifles for the cause. He is pursued by a lawman named Lyedecker (Jim Brown) who goes to Mexico to catch Yaqui Joe, unconcerned with the shenanigans of Verdugo’s henchmen (Dan O’Herlihy, Hans Gudegast). One is only interested in making money, and the German military advisor is interested only in genocide as far as Mexican Indians are concerned. In the meantime, Lyedecker pauses long enough to have a fling with Sarita in between shoot-outs, drunken orgies, and observing the guerrilla tactics of the Mexicans.
