Hot Hollywood action star Nick Lang (Michael J. Fox) wants to put more realism in his roles, so what does he do but follow along behind super-cop John Moss (James Woods). Lang's naiveté and exuberance for the research put him underfoot at every turn Moss makes, resulting in an odd-couple type of living arrangement when Lang moves in and even extending into Moss' love live when Nick starts intruding on Moss' relationship with Susan (Annabella Sciorra). As Moss struggles to capture the Party Crasher killer without being driven insane by Lang or losing Susan, he finds there's only going to be one way to get through it all: the hard way.
