Susan Davies (Cloris Leachman) has been selected for jury duty, and moreover it is the murder trial of John Healy (Nick Nolte). Davies takes her civic duty extremely seriously and pays close attention to all evidence and arguments presented by both defense and prosecuting attorneys. About half way through the judicial proceedings, Davies begins to question whether or not Healy is actually the one who committed the heinous murder. While, initially her claims go unnoticed, as the trial progresses it is becoming apparent to all the jurors that Healy did not commit the murder. The plot thickens when someone close to Davies may indeed be the murderer and she herself may be the next
