Beneath Hill 60 is an amazing and true story of an affable engineer named Oliver Woodward (Brendan Cowell) who has to leave his new young love for the muddy and dangerous Western Front. Oliver is the founder of the First Australian Tunnel Company and he leads the platoon of Australian tunnel diggers. They spare no efforts to mine deep under a German bunker , set off explosives to help to the proceeding of British troops. The civilian miners took the war underground, as they dug a creepy caterpillar of tunnels. This task was perilous and risky, the men were as marginalized by their contemporaries as possible . Other characters include Frank Tippin (Harrison Gilbertson) a terrified, 16 year old and Babek (Kenneth Spiteri). |
