This documentary does not feature any actors, but shows instead a number of non-actors talking about what it is like to be lesbian or gay, and how difficult it is to reconcile this with religion in the United States. People in the film disagree about interpretations of parts of the Bible relating to the practice of homosexuality, particularly the verses in Leviticus. Those who hate and fear gays and lesbians are shown along with those in churches which support and accept them without necessarily condemning them. One family attempts to get in touch with Focus on the Family about the issue but is barred from entering the buildings.
