A black slave sets off a terrifying chain of events in the future after he is punished for falling in love with a white woman. His sentence consisted of cutting off his hand and soaking his body in honey, attracting a horde of bees stinging him to death. Known as the Candyman (Tony Todd) the slave from the past can be summoned by repeating his name five times in front of a mirror when he will appear behind them. Helen Lyle (Virginia Madsen) is doing a thesis on urban legends when she hears of the Candyman myth. When a series of murders are committed the locals close believe it is the work of the Candyman. Helen does not believe this until she meets up with the killer who then starts killing her friends. Fingers point at Helen and it is now up to her to stop the killings and clear her name.
