Meet Mary Henry (Candace Hilligloss). Mary has just moved to Salt Lake City to start a job as a church organist. Mary seems to drift through life, not really connecting with anyone on a personal level. Before leaving her hometown, she was in a car crash with her friends and was the only survivor. Now, Mary is unsure of her place in the world. Her new boss, the minister (Art Ellison) has already admonished her in their first meeting that she must at all time be a prim and proper 1960s lady (pre flower child era). Mary's lengthiest conversations in her new town are with an obnoxious lodger, John Linden (Sidney Berger) who enters her room at will. As the film progresses, we witness a woman who is on the brink of a nervous breakdown. She might or might not be crazy, might or might not be hallucinating, and might or might not have a secret or two. "Carnival of Souls" is a classic thrill ride that will keep the viewer in suspense until the very end.
