Prydain is a country of mystery and magic. There once was an ancient king so evil, that the only way to stop him was to trap his soul in a black cauldron. This cauldron now has an unholy power. If you place a dead body in it, it comes backs to life, creating a fearsome deathless warrior, one of the cauldron born who feel neither pain nor hunger and fear nothing. Taran is a young man working for the great Sorcerer Dalben in a quiet corner of Prydain as Assistant Pig Keeper to the oracular pig Hen Wen. But he longs for more excitement in his life. He wants to be a hero, like those he as read about in stories, and have adventures. One day, Hen Wen has a vision that an evil warrior named the Horned King is looking for the black cauldron and is planning on using Hen Wen and her gifts to find it. One day, while Taran is busy daydreaming about being a warrior, Hen Wen runs off into the forest and Taran must go and find her before she comes to any harm.
