The world has been devastated by the wars of the 1900s. Most people are living a mere existence in “market towns” just scratching out subsistence. They grow crops and raise dogs as a food source and trade what trinkets they have. The Game - a brutal, bloody sport - is the only form of entertainment. It is played by bands of nomadic teams called Juggers. Not everyone is living a mere existence however. There are 9 underground cities where the aristocracy lives an affluent lifestyle. They too have their own Juggers in an organization known as The League. All Jugger teams would like a shot at the attention of the affluent Juggers and one team led by the main Jugger, Sallow (Rutger Hauer) will get the chance at the affluent life in the underground cities if they are good enough. However, they don’t realize that they are also fighting for survival until The Game starts.
