Proper Englishman, Michael Felgate (Hugh Grant) has just proposed to Gina Vitale (Jeanne Tripplehorn) and she has accepted. Now, he has to meet her father Frank Vitale (James Caan) and his world will never be the same. She never warned Michael that her father is a mob boss. Considering him a part of the “family”, Michael is now being asked to do favors for the mafia. One favor is to push another mob boss’ son’s paintings through the auction house Michael works at. When the son of the mob boss ends up dead, Michael ends up getting sucked into Frank’s illicit world. Frank worries that Michael will get in trouble, so he makes up an alias of “Mickey Blue Eyes” for him. Michael then becomes under the scrutiny of the FBI and Gina to whom he swore he would stay away from all things mob related. Now he is in a funny scramble to save his life and his love.
