John McCormick (Bruce Davison) and his wife Catherine (Mimi Rogers) recently relocated their family from Vancouver to the coast of British Columbia. The change of location enables John to teach his sons Angus (Jesse Bradford) and Silas (Joel Palmer) some basic outdoors and survival skills. Angus soon rescues a stray Golden Labrador dog, which he fittingly names Yellow. While traveling along the coast a few days later with Yellow and John, Angus soon finds himself in a survival situation. The boat capsizes, and while John is rescued, Angus and Yellow are forced to try to survive alone in the wilderness. Their relationship strengthens amazingly as the two fight the elements and try to survive against some wild animals. Will they be able to survive until the are rescued, and how will they take care of one another?
