Set in the Louisiana of 1962, Eve’s Bayou follows the journey of doctor’s daughter Eve (Jurnee Smollett) and her family as Eve starts to become aware that there are secrets being concealed all around her. Eve’s father Louis (Samuel L. Jackson) is a respected doctor in the community, but also a man with some serious problems observing proper behavior. Eve’s beautiful mother Roz (Lynn Whitfield), her older sister Cisely (Meagan Good) and her psychic aunt Mozelle (Debbi Morgan) face their own troubles in facing and interpreting the truth. As she becomes more and more desperate to understand the truth and help her family, Eve tries to enlist the help of voodoo priestess Elzora (Diahann Carroll). |
