Letters to Juliet takes place in Italy, where a young girl, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), travels for a pre-honeymoon with her inattentive fiance, Victor (Gael Garcia Bernal). In Verona, the city that birthed the love of Romeo and Juliet, there is a house in which Juliet was supposed to have lived. In the house, people leave letters addressed to Juliet. The notes are left in the hopes that Juliet will help with issues of love and loss. Sophie joins a group of people who answer the letters. She comes across a letter that was written many years prior. The letter, which was written by a woman named Claire (Vanessa Redgrave), intrigues Sophie. She writes back and eventually meets Claire’s grandson, Charlie (Chris Egan). Through Charlie, Sophie meets Claire and helps her search for the man the letter was about. |
