The Lena Baker Story is an biographical movie about Lena Baker (Tichina Arnold), an African-American woman, who was the first woman to be awarded the death sentence in Georgia for the murder of her employer Elliot Arthur (Peter Coyote) who was her employee and a white man. Baker had an impoverished childhood and in order to escape from poverty she started to work as a sex worker. However, she is arrested and sentence for ten months imprisonment which leave a scar on Lena. With determination, she gets over her past life and becomes a good mother and citizen. Her life takes another turn when she starts working for Elliot who often tortures and mistreats her. She tries to escape from him and accidently shoots him in the struggle. A jury comprising of all white men finds her guilty and Lena is executed by electric chair. After her death, she is pardoned later.
