Demarkov (Lena Olin) is a female killer from Russia who simultaneously outsmarts the "mob" and a bad cop, Jack (Gary Oldman), who's pulling strings in the mob's favor for cash. Jack ultimately puts his himself, his wife (Annabella Sciorra), and his mistress (Juliette Lewis) in danger when the mob begins to threaten him for his disappointing attempts to stop the Russian woman. The movie twists through cat and mouse backstabbing killing the mob boss (Roy Scheider), and leaving the Russian woman and Jack both seriously injured, despite their apparent sexual attraction and mutual admiration for each other's talent. The police finally arrest their former partner, Jack, for a series of framed murders including that of his mistress. If Jack is destined to start his life over and reinvent himself, he must first convince the police, his wife, and the court that Demarkov was the culprit. And, the twists don't stop there!
