Henry V (Kenneth Branagh) has a questionable claim to the French throne. The French royal family are contemptuous of him and that combined with urging from prominent Englishmen leads him to start a war with France. Just before he leaves, he uncovers a traitorous plot among several of his closest connections and he executes the conspirators. After he arrives in France, he wins the city of Harfleur but his men are worn down by the campaign. At Agincourt, he is massively outnumbered by fresh troops but he manages to rally them with a passionate speech and the English definitively defeat the French troops. He begins negotiations for the French throne and he manages to win over the French Princess Katherine (Emma Thompson) who agrees to marry him.
