"The Company" is the story of a year in the life of a fictional ballet company, the Joffrey Ballet Company in Chicago. The film examines the intense professional and personal relationships of the characters but focuses on dance. It examines the dedication dancers must have and the obstacles (both physical and emotional) that they must overcome. Ry (Neve Campbell) is the new lead dancer for the company, which is directed by Mr. A (Malcolm McDowell). Ry struggles financially and must work as a waitress to make ends meet. Mr. A, who is difficult, brilliant, and mercurial, has romantic feelings for Ry but she meets and falls in love with Josh (James Franco). |
