Tory Bodeen (Claire Forlani) and her best friend Hope plan a secret girl meeting at the lake one night. Tory, who gets beaten black and blue by her father, doesn't make the meeting. Hope shows up alone and is murdered. Tory has visions (the reason for the beating from her father) and is able to locate Hope's body for the police. This raises the suspicion of Hope's mother. She assumes Tory, her father or both had something to do with the murder. The Bodeens pack up and leave town. Tory's gift proves to be a curse again and again even though she tries to use it to help the police find missing children. After a child she is trying to help is killed, Tory decides to return to her home town to face her demons. While unaccepted by most of the town, Hope's brother Cade (Oliver Hudson) is happy she has returned. The two pair up to solve Hope's murder, keep Tory's father and Cade's mother at bay and pursue their relationship which is an extension of their childhood crushes.
