China Blue (Kathleen Turner), a top of the line prostitute into role-playing, has a real job as a fashion designer named Joanna Crane, but her competitors don’t trust her. In addition she finds herself the object of attention from Rev. Peter Shayne (Anthony Perkins) who wants to give her salvation. A business competitor of Joanna Crane hires Bobby Grady (John Laughlin) to spy on her, but he becomes intrigued with her nightlife as the fantasy fulfilling playgirl. Once the detective hooks up with China Blue, she breaks up his troubled marriage of to Amy Grady (Annie Potts), causing Bobby to develop an obsessive-compulsive disorder for the lady of the night. China Blue may also have encouraged more than she bargained for when a psychotic decides she deserves a fatal punishment.
