A young hard-working student in a small town, Grace (Eva Amurri) discovers that her credit's been ruined by her own mother, Rhonda Berry (Susan Sarandon), in a hopeless scheme to promote the modeling career of her younger sister Taylor (Willa Holland). Unable to secure a student loan, her future seemingly ruined, Grace is trapped in town and takes a summer job at a water park. There she meets and befriends Dorian (Anton Yelchin), from a rich family, and they decide to raise money by selling marijuana. While Dorian develops feelings for an unresponsive Grace, Grace and Taylor uncover a bit of their own shocking family history, and Dorian seeks out the secrets of his own parentage. Dealing with the past helps clear the way for their futures, if they can stay out of jail.
