This is a one-joke film with Polly Bergen as the first woman to become President of the United States and Fred MacMurray as the befuddled "First Gentleman." It runs out of steam early on. An inexplicable Oscar nom went to the costumes, although there weren't any-just everyday clothing. It is worth seeing, however, for Bergen's few scenes as the no-nonsense, hard as nails President in her decision-making sequences. She'd have made a good one! |
