Don McKay (Thomas Haden Church) is a high school janitor who is forced to flee his hometown after a horrible tragedy befalls him. He swears that he will never return to the town, but he finds himself being drawn back there 25 years later. He returns with the hope of re-igniting a relationship with his high school girlfriend Sonny (Elizabeth Shue), but it turns out that she is dying. Don's return is much different than he imagined, as he finds a dark and dangerous feeling all over town, while he can't quite put his finger on the problem. As he spends more time there, he feels that he is being pulled into a dangerous and unknown world, and he is quickly wondering if he will every be able to escape this place. What secrets is his hometown hiding, and will Don be able to get to the bottom of everything before he's stuck in this nightmare forever?
