Half-breed Pacer (Elvis Presley), son of a white man (John McIntire) and his second wife Neddy (Dolores Del Rio), is in conflict with two cultures: his Native American and the white settlers. His problems are exemplified by his relationship with his all-white brother Clint (Steve Forest). They take opposite sides in the battle with the Kiowa chief Buffalo Horn (Rudolfo Acosta) making a strong case to Pacer to join the Natives to reclaim their land. The tragic loss of his parents to the conflict teaches Pacer all he needs to know. What lessons Pacer must learn about prejudice and family ties may be too late for him and too soon for society in 1878. |
