Playboy millionaire Scott Heyward (Elvis Presley) has all the girls he could ever want. But one thing always troubles him; do they want to be around him for his money or because they truly like him. He hatches a plan to trade places with a friend of his, Tom Wilson (Will Hutchins). Wilson is a water-ski instructor. When Mr. Heyward (James Gregory) finds out that the beautiful penthouse he bought for his son is being inhabited by another young man who is entertaining a host of young women, he gets angry. After confronting Scott, he agrees to the switch for a short time. During this time, Scott finds out that girls do like him for himself. He eventually begins to form another friendship with Sam Burton (Gary Merrill) who has a boat he would like Scott to race. Scott agrees to race the new prototype for Sam. Now he has one last hurdle to jump to prove to himself that money can’t buy everything.
