Beautiful blonde Lou-Jean (Goldie Hawn) has lost everything, and she wants it back. A mother struggling to deal with having her child taken away, she's desperate and ready to fight. After hatching a plan to help her husband Clovis (William Atherton) break out of jail, the two kidnap the child from foster parents and settle in for a long battle with law enforcement and anyone else who stands in their way. Max (Michael Sacks), a Texas State Police trooper, makes the mistake of being one of the first to step in their path. He finds himself a hostage on what becomes a very public flight for freedom. Soon the couple has a Bonnie-and-Clyde reputation that has captivated people everywhere, but they find their biggest ally might just be a cop (Ben Johnson) who isn't quite sure which side he's on.
