Liam (Martin Compston) dreams of a better life beyond a bleak Scottish town: he hopes to buy a nice caravan to move his family into. After Jean (Michelle Coulter), his mother, is released from jail, Liam must deal with her cruel, drug-pushing lover Stan (Gary McCormack). The only way out of unemployment and despair for Liam is a large amount of money, which he and his friend Pinball (William Ruane) try to raise by selling cigarettes. Unfortunately this soon leads to sales of drugs, problems with the police, and a new set of enemies in the form of drug kingpins.
