The location is Derry (Northern Irish) date 1972. January 30, the day known as "Bloody Sunday" A peaceful demonstration is made on this day in the city against British government's measure which makes imprisoning the Catholic Irishs without a judicial judgment. Ivan Cooper (James Nesbitt - Waking Ned) is the organizer of the procession , who believes that it is possible to solve the conflicts peaceful. Between the demonstrators appears a 17 years old Catholic boy named Gerry Donaghy who also is a pacifist and is in love with a protestant girl. The march finally turns into a bloodbath when the British army intercedes. The aftermath: 13 unarmed demonstrators are killed and 14 others are seriously wounded.
