Dad Cathkart (Danny DeVito) has worked hard for many years, and has always provided well for his family. He is now ready to retire, and is looking forward to spending some relaxing time at home. He has a hurdle, however, in that his two twenty-something sons Elliot (Ryan Hansen) and Quinn (Skyler Stone) still live at home, and have no interests in leaving. Dad decides to hit the road with mom (Katie Sagal), in hopes that leaving the boys at home to fend for themselves, they will learn to grow up and take care of themselves. The boys are quickly thrown into a new life, trying to figure out how to pay the bills and care for themselves and the house.
