Former rock star turned pastor Ethan Jenkins (Michael W. Smith) is destined to someday fill his father’s shoes. Pastor Jeremiah Jenkins (J. Don Ferguson) is leader of a large suburban church and currently is planting churches around the world. The board of directors fears Ethan is a bit to unorthodox in his methods and strongly suggests that Jeremiah do something to rein him in; make him more traditional. Jeremiah decides that he will send Ethan to the first church he ever pastured, The Second Chance. While there, Ethan forms a love-hate relationship with Pastor Jake Sanders (Jeff Obafemi Carr). Pastor Jake has little patience for the fancy car and fancy clothes Jake comes in. Rather, the mission of Second Chance calls for getting dirty, working with the poor and destitute. At first Ethan finds distaste with his new duties but comes to embrace the mission and the vision of Second Chance. Things appear to work out until Jake and Ethan find out that the church is to be demolished to make way for a new sports complex.
