Amelia Earhart (Hilary Swank), who has always been fascinated by flying, is recruited by George Putnam (Richard Gere) to fly across the Atlantic. While she does it, she’s hungry to prove herself and do it alone. Putnam, meanwhile, falls in love with Earhart. Their relationship remains awkward, while Earhart falls in love with Gene Vidal (Ewan McGregor). Earhart experiences fame and aviation success and aims at flying around the entire world. Her initial attempt does not end well in Hawaii, but Earthart, undaunted, picks up where she left off. She sets off for Howland Island, but fuel begins to run low, and crisis sets in. |
