During World War II, a French boy named Julien Quintin (Gaspard Manesse), who is from a wealthy family, is forced to return to his Roman Catholic boarding school near Fountainebleau. At the boarding school, he meets Jean Bonnet (Raphael Fejto) who is of the same age as he is. However, there is something about Jean that Julien does not know about but soon he discovers that Jean is a Jewish boy when he overhears Jean reciting a prayer. To confirm his suspicions, Julien later finds Jean's prayer book in his belonging. Slowly, Julien is exposed to a rude awakening when he discovers about the harsh realities of the Nazi occupation when his boarding school is raided and Jean is taken away by the Gestapo. |
