Based on Jon Krakauer's book on the 1996 Everest climbing disaster, this movie attempts to recreate the disaster that took place during the climb killing eight climbers. The climbers were divided in two teams headed by famous climbers Rob Hall (Nathaniel Parker) and Scott Fischer (Peter Horton). A group of amateurs had paid a lot for this opportunity to climb Mount Everest. Jon Krakauer (Christopher McDonald) was also a part of the climb and later wrote a book on it. Story is told in flashback by him. While the whole team survived the climb up to the mountain, during the climb down an unexpected storm came and 8 climbers, including the two team leader Scott Fischer and Rob Hall, got lost and froze to death.
